Deriving system level functional interfaces by using sequence diagrams

Sequence diagrams derive system level functional interfaces.

Before you begin

Verify that all sequence diagram messages and operations are realized.

About this task

You can use a sequence diagram to derive system level functional interfaces, also known as logical interfaces. At this point during the functional analysis phase, functional interfaces pertain only to the system as a whole; subsystem interfaces are defined later during this phase. You can perform this task manually, or you can use the SE-Toolkit to automatically create the required ports and interfaces.
Tip: Avoid using long sequence diagrams for this task.
