Comparing designed schedule with actual execution

After you have run your application, the Scheduling tab provides you with the option of displaying your planned schedule together with actual execution data taken from the execution log file. This means you can identify conflicts between your planned schedule and actual execution of actions, for example, conflicts stemming from underestimation of the duration of an action.

Procedure

  1. Open the Features window for the relevant Rhapsody® component, and select the Scheduling tab.
  2. Click the .. button next to the Show Execution Log option to open the Execution Log View Options window. On this window you can specify information such as the location of the log file and the threshold to use to determine whether a conflict exists between the planned schedule and the actual execution of a specific action.
  3. After closing the Execution Log View Options window, select the Show Execution Log option.
The execution time information will be displayed together with the planned schedule. The actual execution time is displayed as a smaller rectangle within the rectangle that represents the scheduled action. If the actual execution deviates from the planned time, you will see the inner rectangle extending past the outer rectangle.
  4. Select the Show Time Conflicts option.
Rhapsody displays conflicts between planned and actual time (using triangular symbols as described in Viewing and modifying action schedule in the scheduling table) after taking into account the acceptable deviation threshold that you set in the Execution Log View Options window.
  5. Based on the comparison of the actual timing information and your original schedule, make any required scheduling changes by modifying the values in the top part of the screen, or by dragging the rectangles representing the scheduled actions in the bottom part of the screen (see Viewing and modifying action schedule in the scheduling table).
  6. Click Apply to apply any changes to your model.
