Locate On Diagram rules

This topic explains the rules for Locate On Diagram and any restrictions.

Locate On Diagram uses the following rules to determine what to open, in order of priority:

  • Open the main diagram of the element if the main diagram is set and does show the element.
  • For an object, show the main diagram of its class if the main diagram is set and does show the object.
  • Show a randomly chosen diagram that shows the element.
  • Look for its container only if it does not find the element on the diagram. For example, if you try to locate an operation, Rhapsody® looks for a diagram that shows the class for the operation.

Locate On Diagram restriction

The ability to use Locate On Diagram from the code view is based on the annotations in the code. If the code is not annotated, Locate On Diagram will not be able to find the diagram. Note also in this case that it will not display a No Diagram Found message.
