Upgrade strategy for the IBM Engineering AI Hub instance
The OLM manages the lifecycle of operators by using channels. IBM Engineering AI Hub on Red Hat OpenShift facilitates the OLM and channels to support the product upgrades. When an interim fix, a mod, a release, or a version update is available, the OLM creates an update request. After the update request is approved according to the approval strategy, the IBM Engineering AI Hub operator is upgraded to the new version by OLM.
When you install the IBM Engineering AI Hub operator, you can choose the appropriate channel name. The IBM Engineering AI Hub operator manages the version of the IBM Engineering AI Hub application that is installed on the cluster.
Optionally, initiate the upgrade by modifying IBM Engineering AI Hub instance custom resource and specifying the new version in the spec.version. The IBM Engineering AI Hub operator then upgrades the IBM Engineering AI Hub applications to the specified version.
- Interim fix updates take place within the same channel.
- Version or release or mod level updates take place when the Red Hat OpenShift administrator changes the channel.
Channel strategy
The IBM Engineering AI Hub operator is available in the General Availability (GA) channel. The channel name is 1.1.
