Overview of Engineering Insights

IBM Engineering Lifecycle Optimization - Engineering Insights (ENI) is a collaborative, web-based application that helps engineering teams manage products and systems.

ENI provides a portal that helps teams visualize, explore, and report on relationships across requirements, design, implementation, and test data from various engineering applications. Product managers and administrators can create views into the data to identify and analyze the impact of potential changes to artifacts.

ENI is part of IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management, and works with data from Engineering Requirements Management DOORS®, Engineering Requirements Management DOORS Next, Engineering Rhapsody®, Engineering Workflow Management, and Engineering Test Management.

ENI provides a portal into indexed data by using views to display the latest information and show relationships among artifacts. Views can be based on user role, product release, development process, or project. You can use views to navigate to specific engineering artifacts and open them in the application where they were created.

Impact analysis

You can use impact analysis diagrams to manage change in complex engineering environments. Visual representations of engineering artifacts and their relationships can help you determine how potential changes to an artifact might affect related artifacts.

You can open Report Builder from the Queries menu to search and create reports based on data across engineering disciplines, regardless of the source and location of the data. You can use the ready-to-use and ready-to-copy reports or create new reports to quickly generate and share information about your projects. You can export the reports or add them to dashboards.

Integrating ELM with IoT Platform artifacts

You can use the built-in Continuous Engineering Connector for Internet of Things to link IoT Platform artifacts with artifacts across ELM. With the connector, teams can extend their development practices to include other teams that build IoT solution components by using the IBM Watson IoT Platform and IBM IoT Connection Service. If you use the connector, you can visualize your IoT solution, including devices, rules, and Node-RED flows, in ENI views.
