Value Lists
Value lists can be transported from the source system to the target system as primary components or as dependent components.
Value lists are transported as dependent components if they are referenced by other components. For example, when you transport a data definition, the value list that is associated with the data definition is also transported.
Considerations
Consider the following points when you transport value lists:
- Both the inactive and active values in a value list are transported.
- If a sublist is applicable for the value list, the sublist is also transported.
- When a value list is updated, values not present in the value list are appended.
- For system value lists, only the description for the values can be updated. For a sublist, the description and the status can both be updated.
- If a value list on the target system is transferred as a dependent component, along with the value used in the primary component, all the values in the value list are transported.
