The installation process for the IBM® Diamondback tape library is simple, and fast.

Installing the library

All 4 Ethernet ports on the electronics tray require the use of shielded Ethernet cables in order to meet electromagnetic emissions limits. If connected, shielded twisted pair (STP) cables shall be used on the Electronics Tray Ethernet ports in order to meet electromagnetic emission requirements.

  1. After you power on the library, the automatic initialization will begin. This consists of:
    • Calibration - Internal lights will turn off.
    • Tier 1 inventory - Internal lights will again emit a blue pulse.
    • Library verify - Internal lights will emit a blue pulse.
  2. After the automatic initialization, the frame lighting with change to a steady blue. The library is ready for the customer setup, such as your network IP addresses and library date/time settings. You can use the REST API, or connect a laptop/crash cart to the service port (192.168.1.2), for these customizations.
Important: After the installation is complete make sure your library has the latest code level and backup your library configuration.
