Frames

The frame in a library is the rack that houses all the components of the library and includes the front door, rear door, and side doors (if any).

A TS4500 tape library can have up to 16 frames. Each frame is designed to hold a specific media type, either a 3590 or LTO. TS4500 frames are identified by their location within the library, with location 1 (referred to as frame_1) on the far left and the values increasing to the right. For a list of types of frames, see frame models.

A Diamondback tape library has only one frame that holds the LTO tape cartridges. This frame supports up to 14 tape drives and 1584 storage slots, is equipped with one 10 slot I/O station, and optionally equipped with a top rack (Model L9A).
