Events list

The Events page displays all of the events that occur on the storage system, whether initiated by a user or by an internal process.

Array

Array assigned
(Informational) An array was assigned to a pool.
Array configured
(Informational) The storage type, RAID level, or number of spare drives of an array changed.
Array configuring
(Informational) The array is being configured with a storage type and RAID level.
Array degraded
(Error) One or more drives in the array are rebuilding. Contact your product technical support for assistance.
Array depopulating
(Informational) Allocated capacity is migrating from the array to other arrays in the pool.
Array depopulating to reassign
(Informational) The array was reassigned to a different pool. Allocated capacity is migrating from the array to other arrays in the pool.
Array depopulating to unassign
(Informational) The array was unassigned from a pool. Allocated capacity is migrating from the array to other arrays in the pool.
Array depopulation error
(Error) An error occurred while allocated capacity was migrating from the array to another array in the pool. Contact your product technical support for assistance.
Array failed
(Error) Two or more drives in the array failed. An insufficient number of drives are left in the array to rebuild the data that was lost on the failed drives. Contact your product technical support for assistance.
Array formatting
(Informational) Drives in the array began formatting.
Array inaccessible
(Error) One or more drives in the array cannot be accessed for reading or writing. Contact your product technical support for assistance.
Array installed
(Informational) A new array was added to the storage system. Additional capacity is now available.
Array internal error
(Error) An internal system error occurred. Contact your product technical support for assistance.
Array normal
(Informational) The array is available for I/O activity.
Array overdriven
(Warning) The I/O usage threshold of the array was exceeded, causing degraded performance. Verify the I/O workload that is generated for this array by either the host systems or Copy Services relationships. After the issue is resolved, mark this event inactive.
Array read only
(Error) One or more drives in the array failed. An insufficient number of spares are left in the array to support rebuild operations. Contact your product technical support for assistance.
Array reconfiguring
(Informational) The array is being reconfigured with a different storage type and RAID level.
Array removed
(Informational) An array was removed from the storage system.
Array repairing
(Error) The array is being repaired.
Array reserved
(Informational) The array was reserved. No new capacity can be allocated from the array.
Array unassigned
(Informational) The array was unassigned from a pool.
Array unavailable
(Warning) One or more drives in the array are either formatting or no longer normal. The array is not assigned to a pool.
Array unknown
(Error) The array state cannot be determined. Contact your product technical support for assistance.

Assist on-site

Assist on-site configured
(Informational) Assist on-site settings modified to company name company_name, company ID company_ID, AOS groups aos_groups, HTTP proxy disabled | address address:port, and broker list broker_list address:port.
Assist on-site reset
(Informational) Assist on-site reset by the user.
Assist on-site started
(Informational) Assist on-site started or restarted by the user.
Assist on-site stopped
(Informational) Assist on-site stopped by the user.

Authentication policy

Local authentication policy reset
(Informational) A recovery action reset the local security repository. The local authentication policy was activated and includes either or both of the default administrator and security administrator accounts.
Password settings modified
(Informational) An administrator modified the password settings for the local authentication policy.

Call home

Call home state changed
(Informational) Call home enabled | disabled.
Call home information modified

(Error) The drive requires service. A call home was initiated to your product technical support.

(Informational) The drive is operating normally.
Drive replaced
(Informational) The drive was replaced and was identified by a new serial number.
Drive service in progress
(Warning) The drive is being repaired.
Drive initializing
(Informational) The drive is being prepared for operation and is not yet fully functional.

Encryption policy

Encryption certificate updated
(Informational) A new storage system encryption certificate (certificate_type) was installed. The new certificate will expire on expiration_date.
Encryption disabled
(Informational) Encryption was disabled. Before you create pools, enable encryption in the System Setup wizard or on the Security settings page.
Encryption enabled
(Informational) A user enabled encryption for data at rest on the storage system.
Encryption certificate near expiration
(Warning) The storage system encryption certificate will expire in days_remaining days. You must install a new certificate before the current one expires.
Encryption certificate expired
(Error) The storage system encryption certificate expired. A call home notification was sent to your product technical support.
Encryption labels modified
(Informational) Encryption key labels, which are used to retrieve encryption keys from the key server, were modified from old_key_label1 and old_key_label2 to new_key_label1 and new_key_label2.
IPP Encryption enabled
(Informational) Encryption was enabled with the key labels key_label1 and key_label2.
KMIP Encryption enabled
(Informational) Encryption was enabled with KMIP (Key Management Interoperability Protocol).
Key server added
(Informational) The IPP | KMIP key server IP_address:port_number was added in a server_condition state.
Key server deactivated
(Informational) The key server is no longer active.
Key server failed
(Error) No paths to the key server from either Hardware Management Console (HMC1 or HMC2) are operational. Verify the connection between the key server and the HMCs.
Key server hmc1 degraded
(Warning) No paths to the key server from HMC1 are operational. HMC2 is online, the key server is enabled and at least one path from HMC2 to the key server is operational. To verify the connection to the key server, use the Test action on the Encryption tab of the Security settings page.
Key server hmc2 degraded
(Warning) No paths to the key server from HMC2 are operational. HMC1 is online, the key server is enabled and at least one path from HMC1 to the key server is operational. To verify the connection to the key server, use the Test action on the Encryption tab of the Security settings page.
Key server normal
(Informational) The key server is active and is operating normally.
Key server state changed
(Informational) The state of the IPP | KMIP key server IP_address:port_number changed from old_state to new_state.
Key server removed
(Informational) The IPP | KMIP key server IP_address:port_number has been removed.
Recovery key enabled
(Informational) An administrator authorized the enablement of the encryption recovery key by a security administrator.
Recovery key disabled
(Informational) An administrator authorized the disablement of the encryption recovery key by a security administrator.
Recovery key rekeyed
(Informational) An administrator authorized the reconfiguration of the encryption recovery key by a security administrator.
Recovery key state changed
(Informational) The encryption recovery key state was changed to new_state. This recovery key is used to recover from encryption deadlock.
Recovery key used
(Informational) A security administrator used the encryption recovery key to recover data from an encryption deadlock situation.

HMC

Communications Certificate Imported
(Informational) A communication certificate was imported to ensure secure communications on the HMC for the Service Management GUI and DS CLI.
Communications Certificate Self-Signed
(Informational) A self-signed communication certificate created to ensure secure communications on the HMC for the Service Management GUI and DS CLI.
HMC code level updated
(Informational) The code level of the HMC was updated.
HMC code updating
(Warning) The HMC code level is being updated.
HMC network settings modified
(Informational) The network settings of hardware management console (HMC) HMC_name HMC_ID were modified.
HMC offline with redundancy
(Warning) HMC redundancy is compromised. A call home was initiated to your product technical support.
HMC online
(Informational) The HMC is operating normally.
HMC replaced
(Informational) The HMC was replaced and was identified by a new serial number.
HMC service required
(Warning) The HMC is online, but requires service. A call home was initiated to your product technical support.
HMC SSH access modified
(Informational) The Secure Shell (SSH) command-line access was modified for the HMC.
HMC web application access modified
(Informational) The HMC web application access setting was modified for one of the HMCs.

Host adapter

(Error) The host adapter requires service. A call home was initiated to your product technical support.

(Informational) The host adapter is operating normally.

(Informational) The host adapter was replaced and was identified by a new serial number.

(Informational) One or more host ports on the host are logged in to the storage system.

(Informational) No host ports on the host are logged in to the storage system.

Host port

Host port assigned
(Informational) A user assigned the worldwide port name (WWPN) of the host port to a host. The host can now communicate with the storage system through the host port.
Host port unassigned
(Informational) A user unassigned the host port from a host. The host can no longer communicate with the storage system through the WWPN of the host port.
Unassigned host port added
(Informational) A user created the host port in the DS CLI. The host port is not yet assigned to a host.
Unassigned host port assigned
(Informational) A user assigned the host port to a host. This host port was previously added in the storage system command-line interface (DS CLI) or in an earlier release of the GUI (DS Storage Manager).
Unassigned host port modified
(Informational) A user modified the host port by using a DS CLI command.
Unassigned host port removed
(Informational) A user removed an unassigned host port from the storage system. This host port was previously added in the storage system command-line interface (DS CLI) or in an earlier release of the GUI (DS Storage Manager).
Host port logged in
(Informational) The host port is logged in to the storage system.
Host port logged out
(Informational) The host port is logged out of the storage system.

I/O enclosure

I/O enclosure offline
(Error) The I/O enclosure requires service. A call home was initiated to your product technical support.
I/O enclosure online
(Informational) The I/O enclosure is operating normally.
I/O enclosure replaced
(Informational) The I/O enclosure was replaced and is identified by a new serial number.
I/O enclosure service in progress
(Warning) The I/O enclosure is being repaired.

(Error) The I/O port requires service. Contact your product technical support.

(Informational) A user modified the protocol (topology) of the I/O port.
I/O port unconfigured
(Informational) The I/O port protocol is not configured. To configure the I/O port protocol, use either the Modify I/O Port Protocols action on the System page or the Modify Protocol action on the Network settings page.

Local authentication policy

User created
(Informational) The user account was created in the local authentication policy.
User deleted
(Informational) The user account was deleted from the local authentication policy.
User disconnected
(Informational) An administrator disconnected the user.
User locked
(Warning) The user exceeded the number of login attempts that are allowed on the storage system, or the user account was locked by an administrator. The user cannot log in until an administrator resets the password. An administrator must reset the user's password. The user must modify the temporary password the next time they log in. After the issue is resolved, the event is marked inactive automatically.
User password expired
(Informational) The user logged in to the storage system with a password that expired. The user must reset the password.
User password modified
(Informational) The password for the user account was modified.
User role modified
(Informational) The user role was modified by an administrator.
User scope modified
(Informational) The multitenancy scope of the user was modified by an administrator.
User unlocked
(Informational) An administrator unlocked the user account.

Logical subsystem

LSS created
(Informational) The logical subsystem (LSS) was created on the storage system. Volumes can be created within the LSS.
LSS CS attributes modified
(Informational) A user modified the Copy Services settings of the LSS.
LSS deleted
(Informational) A user deleted the LSS from the storage system.
LSS scope modified
(Informational) A user modified the multitenancy scope of the LSS. The scope defines the set of users that are authorized to manage the LSS.
LSS SSID modified
(Informational) A user modified the subsystem identifier (SSID) of the LSS.

Node

Node code level updated
(Informational) The code level for the node was updated.
Node drive service required
(Warning) One or more drives that are associated with the node are online, but require service. A call home was initiated to your product technical support.
Node initializing
(Informational) The node operation started and is not yet fully functional.
Node offline
(Error) The node requires service. A call home was initiated to your product technical support.
Node online
(Informational) The node is operating normally.
Node replaced
(Informational) The node was replaced. The node has a new serial number.
Node service in progress
(Warning) The node is being repaired.
Node service required
(Warning) The node is online, but requires service. A call home was initiated to your product technical support.

Notifications

Call home failed
(Error) The call home notification for a serviceable event failed. Contact your product technical support. After the notification is sent successfully, this event will be marked inactive automatically.
Call home successful
(Informational) The call home notification for a serviceable event was completed successfully.
Customer notification
(Warning) Action is required for a customer notification serviceable event. After the issue is resolved, mark this event inactive.
Event lost
(Warning) One or more events were lost because of either communication loss or an internal system error. Verify the events in the Events table and mark the event inactive.
Events trimmed
(Warning) The event log file was trimmed because of space limitations. Some events were lost. A warning that event trimming was pending was generated previously. Verify the events in the Events table. Mark this event inactive.
Event trimming pending
(Warning) At the current rate of event generation, the event log file will be trimmed in less than one week. Download the Events table as a CSV file and verify that all resolved events are marked inactive. After verification, mark this event inactive.

Pool

ESE repository added
(Informational) An extent space efficient (ESE) repository was reserved in the pool. This repository contains all of the ESE volumes that are in the pool.
ESE repository resized
(Informational) The capacity of an ESE repository in the pool was increased.
ESE repository removed
(Informational) An ESE repository was removed, which released the capacity of the repository back to the pool. Capacity of ESE volumes is now allocated directly from the pool.
ESE repository threshold modified
(Informational) The threshold warning level of the ESE repository in the pool changed.
Pool capacity limit modified
(Informational) The capacity limit of the pool was changed, which modified the total capacity of the pool.
Pool created
(Informational) A new pool was created on the storage system.
Pool deleted
(Informational) The pool was deleted from the storage system.
Pool merged
(Informational) The pool was merged with another pool. The resources that were in the pool are now owned by the target pool.
Pool over-provisioned capacity full
(Error) The pool is over-provisioned with thin-provisioned provisioned capacity, which is full. If the pool runs out of space, volumes might enter a read-only state. Verify the allocated capacity of the pool. To increase available capacity, either assign new arrays to the pool, or delete volumes or repositories that allocate space from the pool. Alternatively, adjust the threshold to avoid this alert. After the issue is resolved, this event is marked inactive automatically.
Pool over-provisioned capacity below threshold
(Informational) The pool is over-provisioned with thin-provisioned provisioned capacity. This state is normal for over-provisioned capacity in the pool.
Pool over-provisioned capacity over threshold
(Warning) The pool is over-provisioned with thin-provisioned provisioned capacity, which exceeded the threshold. If the pool runs out of space, volumes might enter a read-only state. Verify the allocated capacity of the pool. To increase available capacity, either assign new arrays to the pool, or delete volumes or repositories that allocate space from the pool. Alternatively, adjust the threshold to avoid this alert. After the issue is resolved, this event is marked inactive automatically.
Pool over-provisioned ESE repository capacity full
(Error) The ESE repository in the pool changed to over-provisioned and full. Because the repository is over-provisioned, if the pool runs out of space, volumes might enter a read-only state. Verify the allocated capacity of the ESE repository. To increase available capacity, either delete or reinitialize volumes in the repository. Alternatively, adjust the threshold to avoid this alert. (Warning) The ESE repository in the pool changed to over-provisioned and above threshold. Because the repository is over-provisioned, if the pool runs out of space, volumes might enter a read-only state. Verify the allocated capacity of the ESE repository. To increase available capacity, either delete or reinitialize volumes in the repository. Alternatively, adjust the threshold to avoid this alert. (Informational) Safeguarded capacity for a volume was deleted, including all safeguarded copies. The message includes the volume name.

(Error) Safeguarded copy for a volume was rolled off because of insufficient backup capacity. All other safeguarded copies of this data are still intact. The message includes the volume name.

(Warning) The initial configuration did not complete successfully. Delete the volume and create a new volume. If you cannot delete and re-create the volume, contact your product technical support.
Volume created
(Informational) A user created a new volume on the storage system.
Volume data loss
(Error) Data might be lost. Contact your product technical support.
Volume data loss (pinned)
(Error) Data was lost before it was written and the track identifiers that are associated with the data are unknown. Pinned data cannot be removed from the cache by the storage controller because of a hardware failure. Overwrite or discard the pinned non-retryable tracks from the host to return the volume to a normal state.
Volume deconfiguration error
(Yellow) The volume was not deleted successfully. Delete the volume. If you cannot delete the volume, contact your product technical support.
Volume deconfiguring
(Informational) The volume was deleted from the storage system.
Volume deleted
(Informational) The volume was deleted from the storage system.
Volume expanded
(Informational) The capacity of the volume was increased.
Volume host mapping modified
(Informational) A user modified the logical unit number (LUN) mapping of the volume to a host. You might need to restart or reconfigure the host to access the volume at the new LUN.
Volume inaccessible
(Error) I/O access to the volume data was lost. Contact your product technical support.
Volume merging
(Informational) The pool that contains the volume is merging with another pool.
Volume migrating
(Informational) Capacity for the volume is migrating to another pool or within this pool.
Volume migration canceled
(Informational) Migration was canceled. Resume migration to continue migrating capacity.
Volume migration error
(Warning) Migration did not complete successfully. Resume migration to continue migrating capacity. If migration does not resume, contact your product technical support.
Volume migration paused
(Informational) Migration was paused. Resume migration to continue migrating capacity.
Volume normal
(Informational) The volume is available for I/O activity.
Volume read-only
(Error) Either a thin provisioned volume needs additional available capacity to allocate, or an internal error occurred. Either free up additional space for the thin provisioned volume or contact your product technical support.
Volume reconfiguration error
(Warning) The volume reconfiguration did not complete successfully. Delete the volume and create a new volume. If you cannot delete and re-create the volume, contact your product technical support.
Volume reconfiguring
(Informational) The volume is being reallocated to modify the capacity.
Volume transposition error
(Warning) The volume is in a pool that did not merge successfully. Delete the volume and create a new volume. If you cannot delete and re-create the volume, contact your product technical support.
Volume renamed
(Informational) A user modified the name of a volume.
Volume redistribute started
(Informational) The capacity of the volume is being redistributed within the pool.
Volume migration started
(Informational) The volume is moving to a different pool.
Volume migration or redistribution finished
(Informational) Either the volume moved to a different pool or the capacity of the volume was redistributed within the current pool.
Volume type modified
