Management interfaces

You can use various IBM® storage management interfaces to manage your DS8000 storage system.

These interfaces include DS8000® Storage Management GUI, DS Command-Line Interface (DS CLI), the DS Open Application Programming Interface, IBM Storage Mobile Dashboard, Tivoli® Storage Productivity Center, and Tivoli Storage Productivity for Replication Manager.

DS8000 Storage Management GUI
Use the DS8000 Storage Management GUI to configure and manage storage and to monitor performance. Use the DS8000 Storage Management GUI to configure storage and manage Copy Services functions.
DS command-line interface
The IBM DS command-line interface (DS CLI) can be used to create, delete, modify, and view Copy Services functions and the logical configuration of a storage system. These tasks can be performed either interactively, in batch processes (operating system shell scripts), or in DS CLI script files. A DS CLI script file is a text file that contains one or more DS CLI commands and can be issued as a single command. DS CLI can be used to manage logical configuration, Copy Services configuration, and other functions for a storage system, including managing security settings, querying point-in-time performance information or status of physical resources, and exporting audit logs.
DS Open Application Programming Interface
The DS Open Application Programming Interface (API) is a nonproprietary storage management client application that supports routine LUN management activities. Activities that are supported include: LUN creation, mapping and masking, and the creation or deletion of RAID 5, RAID 6, and RAID 10 volume spaces.
IBM Storage Mobile Dashboard
IBM Storage Mobile Dashboard is a free application that provides basic monitoring capabilities for IBM storage systems. You can securely check the health and performance status of your IBM DS8000 series storage system by viewing events and performance metrics.
Tivoli Storage Productivity Center
Tivoli Storage Productivity Center is an integrated software solution that can help you improve and centralize the management of your storage environment through the integration of products. With Tivoli Storage Productivity Center, it is possible to manage multiple DS8000 systems from a single point of control.
IBM Copy Services Manager
Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for Replication Manager controls Copy Services in storage environments. Copy Services are features that are used by storage systems, such as DS8000, to configure, manage, and monitor data-copy functions.
