The following table lists feature codes that are used to order hardware features for your system.

0021 JEMT indicator Indicates an IBM internal order for machine under the Joint Engineering Manufacturing Test (JEMT) program. It is for administrative purposes only.
0262 1.6TB 2.5 flash encl ind Notifies manufacturing on the number of high-performance flash enclosures used to support 1.6 TB flash drive sets. This feature is used together with the Flash card sets custom placement indicator feature. It is for administrative purposes only. User needs to indicate how many high-performance flash enclosures are required based on the type of flash drive selected.
0264 1.92 TB 2.5 flash encl ind Notifies manufacturing on the number of high-performance flash enclosures used to support 1.92 TB flash drive sets. This feature is used together with the Flash card sets custom placement indicator feature. It is for administrative purposes only. 0266 7.68 TB 2.5 flash encl ind Notifies manufacturing on the number of high-performance flash enclosures used to support 7.68 TB flash drive sets. This feature is used together with the Flash card sets custom placement indicator feature. It is for administrative purposes only. User needs to indicate how many high-performance flash enclosures are required based on the type of flash drive selected.
0400 BSMI Certificate - Taiwan The Taiwanese government agency imposes compliance requirements on products sold within Taiwan. This feature facilitates the production of specific BSMI documents for shipments to Taiwan, thus fulfilling these regulatory standards.
0403 Encryption not capable Disables the encryption capabilities of the unit, making it unable to enable encryption in the field. The government agency for the People's Republic of China and Russia have encryption compliance requirements on products sold into China and Russia. This feature must be included in any order shipping to China and Russia to guarantee the non-encryption certification key is applied to comply with those requirements.
0404 TDCPP free indicator Acts as a safety value to insure any assembly/PNs being shipped is TDCPP free. It is only required if the unit is going to be shipped to a jurisdiction that requires the removal of TDCPP from components.
0785 Safe Guarded Copy Indicator Indicates that the product uses Safe Guard Copy (SGC) functionallity.
0796 5.1 TB to 10 TB capacity Indicates the total raw capacity of the system at initial order is between 5.1 and 10 TB and is used for administrative purposes only. To determine the total capacity, perform the following calculation:
  1. Determine the total number of #16xx flash card features on the order for each flash card capacity (each quantity represents 16 cards for #16xx)
  2. Multiply each total by its respective disk drive capacity
  3. Add together all the resulting values
0797 10.1 TB to 25 TB capacity Indicates the total raw capacity of the system at initial order is between 10.1 and 25 TB and is used for administrative purposes only. To determine the total capacity, perform the following calculation:

0930 IBM/Openwave Alliance Indicates the order is part of sales activities related to the strategic alliance between IBM and Openwave. Its purpose is purely administrative. This feature is applicable to both plant and MES order operations.
0931 IBM System i Indicator Indicates that the machine will operate within the IBM System i server environment. This feature serves administrative purposes only and does not impact the technical capabilities of the system.
0932 IBM System p Indicator Indicates that the machine will operate within the IBM System p server environment. This feature serves administrative purposes only and does not impact the technical capabilities of the system.
0933 IBM System x Indicator Indicates the IBM System Server environment in which the machine will be used is a x86 system i. It is used for administrative purposes only and do not affect the technical capabilities of the system.
0934 IBM System z Indicator Indicates the IBM System Server environment in which the machine will be used is IBM Z. It is used for administrative purposes only and do not affect the technical capabilities of the system.
0935 IBM System z B/C indicator None.
0936 IBM System zEnterprise Cloud indicator Indicates the IBM System Server environment in which the machine will be used is IBM Z Cloud. It is used for administrative purposes only and do not affect the technical capabilities of the system.
0940 Linux Indicator Indicates the unit will be attached to servers running the Linux operating system. It is for administrative purposes only and does not affect the technical capabilities of the system.
0963 IBM SAN Volume Controller indicator Indicates the machine will be attached with an IBM SANvolume controller system. It is used for administrative purposes only and do not affect the technical capabilities of the machine.
0964 IBM/EPIC attachment indicator Indicates that the order is part of sales activities related to the IBM/EPIC software environment. This feature is solely for administrative purposes and applies to both plant and MES order activities.
0965 VMware VAAI indicator Indicates the machine will be used in a VMware VAAI support environment. It is for administrative purposes only and does not affect the technical capabilities of the system.
0966 OpenStack indicator Indicates the machine will be used with OpenStack SW driver support Cloud environment. It is for administrative purposes only and does not affect the technical capabilities of the system.
0983 US TAA compliance indicator This optional feature is for the US Government customers and customers ordering on behalf of the US Government. When used, it provides the DS8000 as a TAA compliant system. It should not be used except where bids or customers require TAA compliance and orders with this feature number will be reviewed for relevance. The maximum order quantity for this feature is one and is for initial plant order only.
1999 Hardware installation MES Provides IBM trained personnel to perform the hardware installation.
8999 IGF transaction indicator Designates that the unit is involved in an IGF transaction (lease or financing). It is for administrative purposes only. When a new unit is involved in an IGF transaction, this feature must be ordered as a Record Purposes Only (RPO) MES. The RPO MES order must be placed using AAS or WTAAS; it cannot be ordered using e-config. This feature is field-install only and cannot be included on the initial order.
9994 Certified Pre-Owned Indicator Indicates an order for a refurbished machine under the terms of the Certified Pre-Owned offering. It is for administrative purposes only.
AAA0 1.6 TB 2.5-inch NVMe flash drive Provides a set of 16 flash cards. Flash cards are installed in a high-performance flash enclosure pair. A high-performance flash enclosure pair can support up to three flash drive sets (up to 48 flash drives).
AAAA 4.8 TB 2.5-inch NVMe FlashCore Module Provides a set of 16 flash cards. Flash cards are installed in a high-performance flash enclosure pair. A high-performance flash enclosure pair can support up to three flash drive sets (up to 48 flash drives).
AAAB 9.6 TB 2.5-inch NVMe FlashCore Module Provides a set of 16 flash cards. Flash cards are installed in a high-performance flash enclosure pair. A high-performance flash enclosure pair can support up to three flash drive sets (up to 48 flash drives).
AAAC 19.2 TB 2.5-inch NVMe FlashCore Module Provides a set of 16 flash cards. Flash cards are installed in a high-performance flash enclosure pair. A high-performance flash enclosure pair can support up to three flash drive sets (up to 48 flash drives).
AAB0 1.92 TB 2.5-inch NVMe flash drive Provides a set of 16 flash cards. Flash cards are installed in a high-performance flash enclosure pair. A high-performance flash enclosure pair can support up to three flash drive sets (up to 48 flash drives).
AAB1 3.84 TB 2.5-inch NVMe flash drive Provides a set of 16 flash cards. Flash cards are installed in a high-performance flash enclosure pair. A high-performance flash enclosure pair can support up to three flash drive sets (up to 48 flash drives).
AAB2 7.68 TB 2.5-inch NVMe flash drive Provides a set of 16 flash cards. Flash cards are installed in a high-performance flash enclosure pair. A high-performance flash enclosure pair can support up to three flash drive sets (up to 48 flash drives).
AAC0 Flash enclosure filler set Provides a set of 16 flash enclosure fillers. If a high-performance flash enclosure pair is populated with only one flash drive set, it must be populated with two flash enclosure filler sets. If a high-performance flash enclosure pair is populated with only 2 flash drive sets, it must be populated with one flash enclosure filler set. If a flash enclosure pair is populated with this feature, it must be removed as additional flash drive set features are added.
AACA HPFE Gen3 Enclosure pair Notifies Manufacturing about the number of 4U (4 EIA) flash enclosure pairs used to support flash cards. Each HPFE Gen 3 pair can be populated with one, two or three flash drive sets of the same capacity.
AAD0 HPFE Gen3 adapter card pair Notifies Manufacturing on the number of HPFE Gen 3 adapter pairs used to support flash cards. One HPFE Gen 3 adapter pair is required for each HPFE Gen 3 Enclosure pair.
AAE0 32 Gb 4 Port SW FCP/FICON Adapter PCIe Provides one four-port Fibre Channel/FICON host adapter. Host adapters are installed in an I/O enclosure. For higher availability, adapters should be added in pairs and in a balanced manner across the machine.
AAE1 32 Gb 4 Port LW FCP/FICON Adapter PCIe Provides one four-port Fibre Channel/FICON host adapter. Host adapters are installed in an I/O enclosure. For higher availability, adapters should be added in pairs and in a balanced manner across the machine
AAG0 zHyperLink adapter Provides a one port zHyperlink adapter which resides in the PCIe G4 I/O drawer of the DS8000 and supports direct connectivity to IBM Z at distances up to 150 m.
AAH0 TCT 10Gb/1Gb ethernet pair for 2U controllers_SR Provides a pair of 2-port 10 Gbps SFP+ shortwave optical (one for each one of the central electronics complexes) to improve bandwidth for a native cloud storage tier in IBM Z environments. OM3 or OM4 Multimode 50/125 micron fiber is required.
AAJ0 TCT 10Gb/1Gb ethernet pair for 4U controllers_SR Provides a pair of 2-port 10 Gbps SFP+ shortwave optical (one for each one of the central electronics complexes) to improve bandwidth for a native cloud storage tier in IBM Z environments. OM3 or OM4 Multimode 50/125 micron fiber is required.
AAK0 1U Keyboard/Display Provides a 1U Keyboard/Display for the DS8000.
AAL0 20-Core per system processor option Provides a processor card pair corresponding to the appropriate system.
AAM0 40-Core per system processor option Provides a processor card pair corresponding to the appropriate system.
AAP0 256 GB per system cache option (20 core) Designates the amount of processor memory installed in the machine.
AAP1 512 GB per system cache option (20 core) Designates the amount of processor memory installed in the machine.
AAQ0 1 TB per system cache option (40 core) Designates the amount of processor memory installed in the machine.
AAQ1 2 TB per system cache option (40 core) Designates the amount of processor memory installed in the machine.
AAQ2 3.5 TB per system cache option (40 core) Designates the amount of processor memory installed in the machine.
AAS0 Single Phase Power - 208V 30A NEMA L6-30P Provides the primary source of power for the storage system with Single Phase Power - 208V 30A NEMA L6-30P power cords.
AAS1 Single Phase Power - 250V 30A/32A IEC 60309 Provides the primary source of power for the storage system with Single Phase Power - 250V 32A IEC 309 power cords.
AAS2 3 Phase Delta Power - 200V-240V 60A/63A IEC 309 (4 pin 3+PE) Provides the primary source of power for the storage system with 3 Phase Delta Power - 200-240V (LL) 60A/63A IEC 60309 ( 4 pin 3+PE ) power cords.
AAS3 3 Phase Wye Power - 380/220-415/240V (LL/LN) 30A/32A, IEC60309 (5 pin 3+N+PE) Provides the primary source of power for the storage system with 3 Phase Power - 250V 32A IEC 309 (5 pin Wye) power cords.
AAS4 Single Phase Power - 250V 32A, Australia/New Zealand Provides the primary source of power for the storage system with Single Phase Power - 250V 32A power cords.
AAS5 Single Phase Power - 250V 30A, Korea Provides the primary source of power for the storage system with Single Phase Power - 250V 30A power cords.
AAS6 Single Phase Power - 230V 30A/32A, halogen free IEC 60309 Provides the primary source of power for the storage system with Single Phase Power - 230V 32A, halogen free IEC 390 power cords.
AAT0 I/O enclosure pair PCIe Gen4 Provides two I/O enclosures. An I/O enclosure pair supports up to two HPFE Gen3 adapter card pairs, up to two HPFE Gen3 enclosure pairs, up to four zHyperLink adapters, and up to eight host adapters.
AAU0 Rack doors Provides a 42U high-end front door and a perforated rear door for the rack.
AAU1 Space Saver rack doors Provides two 42U perforated doors to minimize depth, one for the front and one for the rear of the rack.
AAU2 Rack side covers Provides two 42U high-end rack side covers. These covers are decorative and are not mandatory.
AAU3 Front & rear keyed door lock kit Provides two sets of lock/keys (one for the front door, one for the rear door). On new machines, the cover locks are shipped separately for installation in the field.
AAV1 Top exit bracket for fibre cable Provides the bracket to secure the Fibre cables and power line cords routed to the top of the system.
AAW0 Earthquake Kit Provides an optional seismic kit for stabilizing the storage unit rack, so that the rack complies with IBM earthquake resistance standards. It is important for computer systems to be adequately restrained during earthquakes. This helps to prevent human injury. It also ensures that the system will be available following the earthquake by limiting potential damage to critical system components such as hard drives.
AAX0 Overhead ladder - 5 ft One overhead ladder is recommended per data center. This feature is required for top exit installation of power cords and Fibre Channel cables.
AAX1 Kick step One kick step is recommended per data center. This feature is required for service/installation of High Performance Flash Enclosure.
AAY0 LMC for base frame R10.0 Provides DS8000 Licensed Machine Code (LMC) corresponding to the appropriate bundle family.
AAZ0 LMC indicator for expansion frame Provides DS8000 Licensed Machine Code (LMC) corresponding to the appropriate bundle family. It is used as an indicator on the LMC versions loaded on the base model and allows manufacturing to build the appropriate drive types for the expansion frame.
AB00 Adjacent expansion PCIE4 Cableset Provides the cableset required to attach an expansion frame next to a base frame.
AB01 20 meter expansion PCIE4 Cableset Provides the cableset required to attach an expansion frame up to 20 meters away from a base frame.
AB10 40 meter, 50um Fibre cable (LC/LC) Provides one Fibre Channel cable to connect a Fibre Channel/FICON adapter port to a server or fabric component port. Each cable has a LC connector for attachment to the Fibre Channel/FICON adapter port. Cables are available with a LC connector for attachment to the server or fabric component port. The 50 micron cables are compatible with short-wave Fibre Channel/FICON host adapters.
AB11 31 meter, 50um Fibre cable (LC/SC) Provides one Fibre Channel cable to connect a Fibre Channel/FICON adapter port to a server or fabric component port. Each cable has a LC connector for attachment to the Fibre Channel/FICON adapter port. Cables are available with a LC connector for attachment to the server or fabric component port. The 50 micron cables are compatible with short-wave Fibre Channel/FICON host adapters.
AB12 2 meter, 50um Fibre cable (LC/SC) Provides a pigtail conversion cable that can be used to attach the Fibre Channel/FICON adapter port to a cable with a LC connector. This feature is compatible with short-wave Fibre Channel/FICON host adapters.
AB13 3 meter, 50um Fibre cable (LC/LC) Provides one Fibre Channel cable to connect a Fibre Channel/FICON adapter port to a server or fabric component port. Each cable has a LC connector for attachment to the Fibre Channel/FICON adapter port. Cables are available with a LC connector for attachment to the server or fabric component port. The 50 micron cables are compatible with short-wave Fibre Channel/FICON host adapters.
AB20 31 meter, 9um Fibre cable (LC/LC) Provides one Fibre Channel cable to connect a Fibre Channel/FICON adapter port to a server or fabric component port. AB30 40m zHyperLink cable Provides one zHyperlink cable to connect a zHyperlink adapter port to a server or port of the zHyperLink Express feature. It is a single 24-fiber cable with Multi-fiber Termination Push-on (MTP) connectors. Internally, the cable houses 12 fibers for transmit and 12 fibers for receive. The specifications of the cable are: 40m, OM4 50/125 micrometer multimode fiber optic cable with a fiber bandwidth at wavelength: 4.7 GHz-km at 850 nm.
AB31 150m zHyperLink cable Provides one zHyperlink cable to connect a zHyperlink adapter port to a server or port of the zHyperLink Express feature. It is a single 24-fiber cable with Multi-fiber Termination Push-on (MTP) connectors. Internally, the cable houses 12 fibers for transmit and 12 fibers for receive. The specifications of the cable are: 150m, OM4 50/125 micrometer multimode fiber optic cable with a fiber bandwidth at wavelength: 4.7 GHz-km at 850 nm.
AG00 Shipping and Handling NC Indicates there won't be a shipping and handling charge added to the order. Note: Either this feature or the corresponding chargeable shipping and handling feature for this model must be selected in the order.
AGAK Shipping and handling 994/A01 Indicates the box on the order will have a shipping and handling charge added to the order. Note: Either this feature or feature #AG00 must be selected in the order.
AGAL Shipping and handling 996/A05 Indicates the box on the order will have a shipping and handling charge added to the order. Note: Either this feature or feature #AG00 must be selected in the order.
AGAM Shipping and handling E96/E05 Indicates the box on the order will have a shipping and handling charge added to the order. Note: Either this feature or feature #AG00 must be selected in the order.
AHY1 Storage as a Service indicator Indicates the machine is being deployed under a Storage as a Service offering. It is for administrative purposes only and does not affect the technical capabilities of the machine.
AHY2 On-site code load for Premium tier Indicates that the customer requires someone to physically go on-site to do a code load upgrade by SSR. The feature quantity must match the number of years Expert Care Premium was ordered for.
AHY3 On-site code load for Advanced tier Indicates that the customer requires someone to physically go on-site to do a code load upgrade by SSR. The feature quantity must match the number of years Expert Care Advanced feature that was ordered for.
AHY4 Remote Code Load for Advanced tier Indicates that the customer requires a code load upgrade job done by a remote support engineer. The feature quantity must match the number of years Expert Care Advanced feature that was ordered for.
AKCH Standard S&H Indicator Indicates that the machine order will be shipped under the 'Standard' Shipping & Handling Service Level Agreement. The S&H cost is not charged under this feature code, but this serves as the mechanism to bring the cost into the quote and invoice as a bottom line cost.
AKNC Premium S&H Indicator Indicates that the machine order will be shipped under the 'Premium' Shipping & Handling Service Level Agreement. The S&H cost is not charged under this feature code, but this serves as the mechanism to bring the cost into the quote and invoice as a bottom line cost.
ALC9 4 year, IBM Storage Expert Care Advanced, 4hr Committed Fix Indicates a priced Expert Care Service and Support offering is included on the order. It is for administrative purposes only.
