  2. At the rear of the management console, verify that the USB cable from the keyboard/pointing device is securely connected to the HMC that you are using, and the the VGA display connector is connected to the same HMC. The keyboard/pointing device plugs into a USB port on the HMC at the rear of the rack. The top USB port is for management console 1 and the bottom USB port is for management console 2. Did you resolve the problem?
    • Yes, this is the end of the procedure.
    • No, go to the next step.

The display monitor has no power or is blank

About this task

Perform the following steps until the problem is resolved.

Procedure

  1. Ensure HMC you are trying to use is powered on by looking at the green LED indicator light at the front of the HMC.
  2. At the rear of the rack, ensure that the PDU that supplies power to the display is on, and the connector is firmly connected. The display monitor power cable goes to R1-E24-J1 located at the rear right side of the rack towards the bottom. Check that the PDU is on by looking at the power indicator light.
  3. At the front of the rack pull out the display/keyboard console, and ensure that the is firmly connected. The DC Power connector is in the center of the rear of the keyboard/display console
  4. Ensure that the DC Power supply, in the cable management arm is firmly connected to the other end of the AC cord coming from the PDU. Pulling out the keyboard/monitor console to the full extent, exposes the cable management arm. The DC Power Supply is packaged in the cable management arm.
  5. Ensure the VGA connector is firmly connected at the rear of the display/keyboard console. In normal conditions removing the VGA connector briefly displays a Warning Message for a few seconds screen PC entering power saving mode. This can be used to indicate the display/keyboard console has power, but the problem is the signal through the VGA connector.
  6. Ensure the other end of the VGA cable connector is firmly connected to the VGA port at the rear of the HMC you are trying to use.
  7. Try connecting the keyboard monitor to the other HMC.
    1. At the Rear of the rack disconnect the VGA cable from one HMC and connect it to the other HMC VGA port.
    2. At the Rear of the rack disconnect the Keyboard USB cable at port 3 from one HMC and connect it to the other HMC USB port 3.
  8. If the problem still exists, replace the power cords.
  9. If the problem still exists, replace the display/keyboard console.
