Service Action Action
Generate a test PMH

From the management console navigation area, select Service Applications > Service focal point > Service Utilities. Select the system, then from the Selected menu select Generate test PMH

  1. From the navigation area, click Storage Facility Management.
  2. From the right work area, select the check box for the appropriate storage facility. The bottom Task area displays a list of tasks you can select.
  3. From the bottom Task area, click Service Utilities > Test Problem Notification (PMH, SNMP, Email). The Test Problem Notification (PMH, SNMP, Email) window opens.
  4. Click Yes.
Outbound calls (local modem)

From the management console navigation area, select Service Applications > Remote support > Customize outbound connectivity

  1. From the navigation area, click Service Management.
  2. In the right work area, go to the Connectivity section and click Manage Outbound Connectivity.
  3. The Call Home Server Consoles window opens, click Configure.
  4. From the Local Modem tab, select the first listed phone number and click Test.
Internet VPN connection

From the management console navigation area, select Service Applications > Remote support > Customize outbound connectivity.

  1. From the navigation area, click Service Management.
  2. In the right work area, go to the Connectivity section and click Manage Outbound Connectivity.
  3. The Call Home Server Consoles window opens, click Configure.
  4. From the Internet VPN tab, click Test.
E-mail notification

From the management console navigation area, select Service Agent > Notification of system events

  1. From the navigation area, click Service Management.
  2. In the right work area, go to the Connectivity section and click Manage Serviceable Event Notification.
  3. From the Email tab, click Test Email.
SNMP notification From the management console navigation area, select Service Agent > Customize API settings
  1. From the navigation area, click Storage Facility Management.
  2. From the right work area, select the check box for the appropriate storage facility. The bottom Task area displays a list of tasks you can select.
  3. From the bottom Task area, click Service Utilities > Test Problem Notification (PMH, SNMP, Email). The Test Problem Notification (PMH, SNMP, Email) window opens.
  4. Click Yes.
Test network connectivity (ping command)

From the management console navigation area, select HMC management > HMC configuration > Test network connectivity

  1. From the navigation area, click HMC Management.
  2. From the Operations section, click Test Network Connectivity.
  3. From the Ping tab, enter the TCP/IP address or name, then click Ping.
