Transparent cloud tiering considerations

Consider the following restrictions for transparent cloud tiering on the DS8A00 storage system.

  • Restoration to volumes in a Copy Services relationship is not supported for zGlobal Mirror (XRC).
    Note: Attempts to migrate and recall from these types of volumes results in command reject and job failure.
  • Compression is not supported. Data that is moved from DS8A00 to an object store is not compressed before transmission. If the origin of the data in z/OS® is compressed from the host (zEDC for example), then it remains compressed as it is moved to the object store. The DS8A00 does not compress the data.
