Cloud service providers
The system supports connections to various cloud service providers. Some cloud service providers require connections over external networks, and others can be created on a private network.
Each cloud service provider requires different configuration
options. The system supports the following cloud service providers:
- IBM Bluemix - Cloud Object Storage
- The system can connect to IBM Bluemix - Cloud Object Storage as a public cloud service provider. When you configure the Cloud Object Storage, the Openstack Swift API must be selected in this release.
- Openstack Swift Based Private Cloud
- The system can also support to connecting to various Openstack Swift based private clouds. OpenStack Swift is a standard cloud computing architecture from which administrators can manage storage and networking resources in a single private cloud environment. Standard application programmable interfaces (APIs) can be used to build customizable solutions for a private cloud solution.
- IBM TS7700
- The system can connect to an IBM TS7700 as a potential object storage target. The IBM TS7700 can be used as a similar private cloud provider, allowing the user to integrate existing virtual tape hardware with the advantages of transparent cloud tiering.
- Amazon S3
- Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) provides programmers and storage administrators with flexible and secure public cloud storage. Amazon S3 is also based on object storage standards and provides a web-based interface to manage, back up, and restore data over the web.
