The storage system offers you a selection of drives.

The new high performance flash enclosure pairs can support both Industry Standard NVMe flash drives media and IBM FlashCore Modules (FCM) with built-in compression.

With the improved performance provided by the new RAID Adapters and NVMe drives it is expected that users migrating from previous generation storage systems will be able to move to a larger drive size than they are currently using. IBM Storage Modeller should be used to confirm that a particular configuration will meet workload requirements.

The following NVMe industry-standard drives are supported in DS8000 10th generation systems:

  • 1.6 TB 2.5-inch NVMe flash drive
  • 1.92 TB 2.5-inch NVMe flash drive
  • 3.84 TB 2.5-inch NVMe flash drive
  • 7.68 TB 2.5-inch NVMe flash drive

The following FlashCore Module drives are supported in DS8000 10th generation systems:

  • 4.8 TB 2.5-inch NVMe FlashCore Module
  • 9.6 TB 2.5-inch NVMe FlashCore Module
  • 19.2 TB 2.5-inch NVMe FlashCore Module
