Remote Support Center
Use the Remote Support Center tab of the Support page to configure remote-support connections that enable the storage system to use the call home feature for reporting failures and transmitting pertinent debugging data to IBM®.
- Remote Support Center
- Indicates whether the connection to the Remote Support Center (RSC) is open or closed.
- Connection
- Select an option for the RSC connection:
- Open always
- The RSC connection remains open.
- Open for 2 hours
- After IBM service logs in the session, the RSC connection is left open until 2 hours after IBM service logs off.
- Closed
- The RSC connection is closed.
- Access Code
- Click Require to require IBM service to use an access code for remote-support connections with the hardware management console (HMC) on your storage system. Click Generate to generate an access code. You can also enter your own access code that is case-sensitive and must be fewer than 16 characters.
Note: To display the following fields, click Show full configuration.
- Connection type
- Select a connection:
- Direct connection to the internet
- Use an existing internet connection.
- Configure HTTP proxy
- Use an HTTP proxy server to connect to the internet. When you select this option, the IP address, User name, and Password fields display in the DS8000® Storage Management GUI. You must complete the IP address information.
- Log file
- Click Offload Logfile to download the RSC log file, which lists events and actions for the storage system. Select Enable debug mode to generate detailed RSC log files.
- IBM Service Systems
- Lists the IP addresses of the RSC servers that can connect to your storage system. You must configure your firewall to allow access to these addresses.
