Licensed Functions
The Licensed Functions tab on the System settings page displays information about the licensed functions that are currently activated on your DS8000® storage system. You can also activate new licensed functions.
Actions
On the Licensed Functions tab of the System settings page you can activate new licensed functions.- Activate
- After the IBM® service representatives complete your DS8000 series installation, your first step is to activate your licensed functions. You can also activate new licenses that are purchased after installation. Click the Need Help button in the Activate Licensed Functions window for instructions and machine information required to obtain license keys.
Licensed function properties
Licensed functions are used to activate advanced features of the DS8000 storage system.- Name
- The name of the licensed function. For a list of licensed functions, see the online product documentation about licensed functions.
- Enabled
- Indicates if the licensed function is enabled on the storage system.
- Capacity
- The maximum capacity that is supported by the licensed function. This includes capacity for data, spares, parity and metadata on the arrays.
- Storage type
- The type of storage and server with which the licensed function can be used:
- Fixed block (FB)
- The function can be used only with data from Fibre Channel attached servers.
- Count key data (CKD)
- The function can be used only with data from FICON attached servers.
- Both FB and CKD (All)
- The function can be used with data from all attached servers.
- Key code
- The license key code that was used to activate the licensed function on the storage system.
