Configuring an Assist On-Site connection
Configure an Assist On-Site (AOS) connection that enables IBM® support to remotely access the management console and storage system.
Note: You must open your firewalls to allow the Assist On-Site connection.
You can use either the DS8000® Storage Management GUI or DS CLI to configure an Assist On-Site connection.
- DS8000 Storage Management GUI
- To configure an Assist On-Site from the DS8000
Storage Management GUI, complete the
following steps:
- Click Assist On-Site to open the Assist On-Site tab. , and then click
- For the initial configuration, click Configure Assist On-Site to open the Configure Assist On-Site window. After the initial configuration, click Show full configuration to display fields for advanced configuration.
- Complete the following information:
- Company name
- The name of your organization.
- Company ID
- The IBM ID assigned to your organization.
- AOS groups
- Select the AOS support groups for your organization.
- Connection type
- Select a connection:
- Direct connection to the internet
- Use an existing internet connection.
- Configure HTTP proxy
- Use an HTTP proxy server to connect to the internet. When you select this option, the IP address, User name, and Password fields display in the DS8000 Storage Management GUI. You must complete the IP address information.
- Click Configure to save the configuration and close the Configure Assist On-Site window.
- Use the Service options to start, stop, or restart an Assist On-Site connection.
- DS CLI
- To configure an Assist On-Site connection from the DS CLI, use the chaccess command.For example, to enable an Assist On-Site connection on HMC 1, use the following command:
chaccess -aos enable -hmc 1
