Volumes by Host

The Volumes by Host page displays fixed block (FB) volumes that are organized by the host to which the volumes are mapped.

Actions on the Volumes by Host page
On the Volumes by Host page, you can manage host connectivity to fixed block (FB) volumes, create clusters, assign hosts to clusters, and assign volumes to hosts within clusters. You can view and manage volumes that are mapped to unassigned host ports (if present) and unmapped volumes. You can also view the properties of a volume or a host system.
Volumes
A volume is a fixed amount of storage on a storage device.
Hosts
A host is the computer system that interacts with the DS8000 storage system. Hosts defined on the storage system are configured with a user-designated host type that enables DS8000 to recognize and interact with the host. Only hosts that are mapped to volumes can access those volumes.
