Hosts

The Hosts page displays the open systems hosts that are connected to the storage system and their corresponding host ports.

Actions on the Hosts page
On the Hosts page, you can add new hosts, add host clusters, add host ports, or manage host connectivity to fixed block (FB) volumes in the DS8000 storage system. You can also view the properties of a host system, host cluster, or host port.
Hosts
A host is the computer system that interacts with the DS8000 storage system. Hosts defined on the storage system are configured with a user-designated host type that enables DS8000 to recognize and interact with the host. Only hosts that are mapped to volumes can access those volumes.
Clusters
A host cluster allows you to group hosts of the same type to facilitate changes to those hosts. For example, with host clustering, you can add, modify, or delete volume maps for multiple hosts in a single operation.
Host ports
A host port is a port on a host that connect it to the storage system, either directly or through a switch.
