Dashboard

The Dashboard page displays the major hardware components of the DS8000 storage system and shows the status of the system hardware, capacity, and performance.

You can access actions such as modifying the I/O port protocols, exporting a summary of the storage system configuration, or viewing system properties.

Performance
Select a system performance metric to view a graph that shows performance values over time. Click a graph to open a detailed graph in the Performance page.
Latency
Displays the response time in milliseconds (ms) for the selected I/O operations (read, write, or average of both), averaged over one minute.
Note: If your storage system is connected to an IBM® Z host, the system latency metrics include only partial end-to-end response times on a system level for count key data (CKD) volumes. If you need to view system level response times for a storage system that is connected to a IBM Z host, refer to the Resource Measurement Facility on the host.
Bandwidth
Displays the number of MBs per second (MBps) for the selected bandwidth type (read, write, or total), averaged over one minute.
IOPS
Displays the number of processed requests in thousand I/O operations per second (KIOPS) for the selected I/O operations (read, write, and total), averaged over one minute.
System Health
Hardware view
Use the image of the system to view the properties of a hardware component by hovering over the component. Click a storage enclosure or I/O enclosure to open a detailed display and view the current state.
System Health View
The state and quantity of system components. Click a component category to view details about the components and to view properties or events for a single component. If a component has an alert message, the location code and status of the component are displayed.
Release
The release version of the IBM system software.
MTM
The machine type and model of the DS8000 storage system.
S/N
The unique serial number for the DS8000 storage system.
Components
The overview includes the following components:
Capacity
Use the Capacity graphs to view the available and used capacity for Open Systems and IBM Z® data. The used capacity is categorized according to standard provisioning, thin provisioning, safeguarded copies, and overhead. You can also view the amount of unassigned and provisioned capacity on the system. Click a data type graph to open a Performance graph, which include information about capacity usage according to volume type and both provisioned and usable capacity.
