Host adapters
A host adapter is the I/O adapter that transfers data between the storage system and a host system.
Host adapter properties
- ID
- The ID number of the host adapter.
- I/O Enclosure
- The number of the I/O enclosure that contains the host adapter.
- Frame
- The number of the frame that contains the host adapter.
- State
- The current state of the host adapter as follows:
- Online
- The host adapter is operating normally.
- Service required
- The host adapter is online but requires service. A call home was initiated to IBM® Hardware Support.
- Service in progress
- The host adapter is being serviced.
- Offline
- The host adapter requires service. A call home was initiated to IBM Hardware Support.
- Type
- The interface type of the host adapter.
- Fibre Channel (SW)
- Shortwave Fibre Channel.
- Fibre Channel (LW, 4 km)
- Longwave Fibre Channel with a maximum of 4 km distance.
- Fibre Channel (LW, 10 km)
- Longwave Fibre Channel with a maximum of 10 km distance.
- Speed
- The speed of the host adapter.
- Fibre Channel Ports
- The number of Fibre Channel ports on the host adapter.
- S/N
- The serial number of the host adapter.
- Encryption Capable
- Indicates whether the host adapter ports support encryption.
- Location Code
- A unique value that is assigned by the storage system to identify the component.
