Table 1. Runtime components in zRule Execution Server for z/OS
Component Description
zRule Execution Server for z/OS Based on Operational Decision Manager Rule Execution Server, and a server to administer the underlying Rule Execution Server on z/OS®. zRule Execution Server for z/OS can be called by a user running in Batch, CICS®, and IMS.

In a standard installation, you configure multiple instances of zRule Execution Server for z/OS to develop, test, and put your application into production. Each instance points to a single set of executable libraries that you install by using SMP/E.

SMP/E provides an inventory and cross-reference of software dependencies, and a mechanism for installing new products or applying software maintenance. These capabilities ensure integrity of the overall system. For full SMP/E installation instructions, see the Product Directory that is delivered with the zRule Execution Server for z/OS installation package.
