Recovering database objects

This section describes how to create and maintain the application profiles and ad-hoc specifications that are used to recover Db2® subsystem objects. In addition it describes how to build the recovery jobs using the Db2 Recovery Expert ISPF interface.

Application profiles allow you to recover a Db2 subsystem's objects to a desired point in time. Ad-hoc specifications let you quickly recover objects that have been changed by one or more transactions, without having to create an application profile. Ad-hoc specifications have replaced transaction and log based application profiles. See Creating ad-hoc recovery specifications for more information.
