Configuring third-party authentication
By default, you can log in to Databand Self-Hosted with the username and password that your Databand administrator created for you. For greater security and ease of use, you can enable third-party authentication.
Note: You must have the role of Owner to configure SSO in Databand.
To configure third-party authentication in Databand:
- Configure private certificate authority if your organization uses its own certificate authority.
- Complete the configuration steps for your specific authentication provider. See Authenticating with SAML or Authenticating with Kerberos.
- Configure SSO in the Databand UI.
Configuring SSO in the Databand UI
After you configure your authentication provider, create an SSO configuration in the Databand UI:
- Go to the Databand UI and navigate to Settings > Organization > SSO
configuration and provide the following details:
- Provider name
- The SAML provider that you want to use. Choose one of the existing options, or choose
Other to use a provider that is not listed. Enter a name that helps you
identify this provider, such as
Red Hat SSO. - Entity ID
- The URL that your SAML provider uses to authenticate and identify your account.
- Metadata URL
- A link to the metadata file that SAML uses to confirm the account information that you provided.
This URL must be provided in the format
https://*****.com/****.
- Click Next.
- Copy the redirect URL and paste it back into your identity provider.
- Click Save.
You can now use SAML SSO to log in to Databand.
