Alerts
Overview
The Alerts page contains all alerts that have been triggered within your Databand environment. Three tabs are available to filter alerts by their states: Open, Acknowledged, and Resolved.
All tabs allow for filtering using the Add Filters button. The filter dimensions below are available:
- Assets - The sources, projects, or pipelines in your environment.
- Alert Type - The specific types of alerts that are available through Databand.
- Severity - A user-defined severity attribute that can be attached to any alert definition.
- Triggered Time - The window of time for which you want to view alerts. By default, alerts are displayed for the last 7 days.
- Collaborators - The individuals who have been identified as collaborators for the alert.
Alert Metadata
The list of alerts provides various pieces of metadata about each alert. The available metadata depends on the context of the alert. For example, a table data quality alert will not have an associated pipeline. Likewise, a pipeline state alert will not have an associated data set.
In general, all alerts should provide the following information at a minimum:
- The alert type, severity, and description
- The assets associated with the alert (e.g. source, project, pipeline, and/or data set)
- The value that triggered the alert and the time that it was triggered
- Any receivers or collaborators attached to the alert
Investigating an Alert
You can drill into the details of an alert either by clicking on the description of the alert or by hovering over the alert and clicking the View Details button that appears at the far right end of the alert's row. The Alert Details screen will typically be the starting point for resolving a pipeline or data incident. When alert details are sent to alert receivers, a link to this screen will always be included in the alert payload.
The Alert Details screen displays all of the same information shown on the Alerts page as well as much more detailed information such as logs, error messages, an impact analysis, and metric trend graphs. As is the case with the list of alerts on the Alerts page, the amount and type of information displayed here will depend on the alert type.
Updating the Status of an Alert
The status of an alert can be updated by checking the box at the far left of the alert's row and then clicking the action button (Acknowledge or Resolve) at the top of the page. This can be done for multiple alerts at once.
