We want to share with you some useful tips for how to increase the efficiency of merging models:
Use different filters to visually extract the type of changes you are interested in. For example, the Show code changes only filter helps you visually extract only the code changes. The list of all available filters can be found in the top right corner of the merge toolbar.
Use automatic resolution of graphical conflicts to decrease the number of changes to analyze. To enable conflict suppression, go to the preference page General -> Compare/Patch -> Modeling Compare/Merge -> UML Compare/Merge -> Pure presentation conflicts and mark the Ignore pure presentation conflicts preference.
Have the Code View and Properties View open so you can select a change in the merge editor and view code snippets and properties for the changed element.
By double clicking on each pane of the compare/merge editor, you can easily maximize the viewing area.
To better understand the model context of the change you are analyzing, use navigation commands available in the context menu of the change. They will select the model element in the Project Explorer associated with the selection in the change list.
