Before you can run a software
analysis, you must create an analysis configuration that specifies
the scope and details of the analysis. To create an analysis configuration,
you must be working in a perspective that supports software analysis.
About this task
To create a software analysis configuration, complete
these steps:
Procedure
- Click .
- In the Software Analyzer window,
create a new analysis configuration, or create one based on an existing
configuration:
- To create a new configuration, click the New icon.
- To create a configuration based on an existing one, in the configurations
pane, select the existing analysis configuration and, on the toolbar,
click the Duplicate icon.
- In the Name field, type a unique
name for the analysis configuration or accept the default name.
- Click the Scope tab and specify
which source files to analyze:
- To analyze the resources in an entire workspace, click Analyze
entire workspace. The analysis rules are applied to all
the resources in your workspace.
- To analyze the resources in a resource working set that you
have defined previously, click Analyze a resource working
set. The rules that you select are applied to a specific
set of projects, folders, or files in your workspace.
- To analyze projects in your workspace, click Analyze
selected projects. The rules that you select are applied
to the resources in the project that you select.
- Click the Rules tab and complete
one of the following steps to specify which rules to use to analyze
the source files:
- To select specific rules, expand the Analysis Domains
and Rules list and select rules.
- To import a file that contains a custom rule set, click Import.
- To select a predefined rule set, in the Rule Sets field,
select a rule set, and click Set to populate
the tree.
- Optional: To show any configuration or additional
information that exists for a rule, or to change the severity rating
and other rule parameters, click the rule to display its properties.
Results
The new analysis configuration is displayed in the configuration
pane and remains in the product until you delete it.
Note: To delete
an analysis configuration, in the configuration pane, select the configuration
and click the Delete icon.
