You can use the relationship tools to create relationships
between existing diagram elements and new elements that the relationship
tools create.
Procedure
- In the Palette, in any UPIA section, click a relationship
tool.
- Optional: To create a relationship between
two existing diagram elements, in the diagram editor, complete the
following steps:
- Click an element and drag the cursor to another element. A pop-up menu opens that lists the possible relationships
between these two elements. If only one type of relationship is available,
the relationship is created.
- If more than one relationship is available, select a
relationship to create.
- Optional: To create a relationship between
an existing element and a new element, in the diagram editor, complete
the following steps:
- Click an element and drag the cursor to an empty part
of the diagram.
- Click a relationship; then click a type of UPIA element
to create. The new diagram element is created and
is connected to the existing element by the specified relationship.
Example
For example, on a diagram that contains a project element,
click the
Project Planning Relationships tool,
click the
Project element on the diagram, and then drag the
cursor to an empty location in the diagram. On the pop-up menu, click . An Organizational Resource element is created that
connects to the Project element with an association relationship.
