Saving and closing UML models

When you make changes to a model, an asterisk (*) appears beside the model name in the Project Explorer view, indicating that the model has unsaved changes. If you have the model open in the Model Editor view, or diagrams open in the diagram editor, an asterisk appears beside the name on each tab. When you save the model, the asterisk disappears. A model is considered modified and must be saved if any of the associated resources have been modified. When you close the model, you are prompted to save any unsaved changes.

Procedure

  1. To save a model, complete one of the following steps:
    • To save a selected logical model and all the modified resources that belong to it, in the open file, click File > Save.
    • To save a copy of a model, right-click a model in the Project Explorer view; then click Save As. Specify a name and location and click OK.
    • To save all modified models, including models with unopened diagrams and updated resources, click File > Save All.
  2. To close a model, complete one of the following steps:
    • To close a selected logical model and any associated fragments, right-click a model in the Project Explorer view; then click Close.
    • To close all open models, right-click a model in the Project Explorer view; then click Close All. If you click File > Close All, only the open diagram editors or Model Editor views are closed.
