Adding elements to UML models

You can add model elements to a UML model so that they become part of the model, but are not part of a diagram, or you can add elements to a diagram, in which case they are added to the model as well as the diagram.

About this task

Models contain one or more model elements. The Project Explorer view lists the model elements in each model.

Procedure

Right-click a model in the Project Explorer view or a diagram or element in the diagram editor; then click Add UML and select an element type. If you have a diagram open in the editor, you can drag elements from the Palette to the diagram.
Type a name for the new element and press Enter.

What to do next

Note: If you set preferences to filter or hide model elements, the Project Explorer view may not display the element that you added.
