You can filter, or hide, differences that are irrelevant
to you in the Compare editor and dynamically
change the set of visible differences to reduce the complexity in
a compare and merge session.
Before you begin
You must have a compare and merge session open.
Procedure
- In the Compare editor, on the Structural
changes toolbar, click the Delta Tree Configuration button.
- In the Delta Tree Configuration dialog
box, select filters, a sorting method, or a grouping type to apply
to the current compare and merge session.
- To add a new filter to the current compare and merge session
or to edit a filter that you created, complete one of the following
steps:
- To add a new filter, click Add; then
follow the instructions in the Add New Filter dialog
box and click OK.
- To make changes to a filter you created, select the filter
and click Edit; then follow the instructions
in the Edit Filter dialog box and click OK
- To remove a filter that you created, select the filter and
click Remove.
- Click OK.
What to do next
Tip: You can also filter irrelevant differences
in a compare and merge session by using the Delta Tree
Configuration drop-down menus. You can set preferences
for default filters, or configure a set of rules, to filter irrelevant
differences in compare and merge sessions.
