Modifying layers in UML diagrams

You can modify layers to add, remove, or replace elements in the current layer.

Before you begin

You must have a diagram with a layer created.

Procedure

  1. In the Layer view, click a layer to modify.
  2. In the Layers view, you have the following options:
    • Add diagram elements to layer (): In the diagram editor, click the elements to add to the selected layer.
    • Remove diagram element from layer (): In the diagram editor, click the elements to remove from the layer.
      Note: The elements are removed from the layer.
    • Replace elements with selected element (): In the diagram editor, click the elements to add to the selected layer.
      Note: Any elements in the current layer are removed from the layer.

What to do next

Tip: When you click an element in the diagram editor, the icon appears in the Layers view next to the layer that contains the element.
