Deleting behavior execution specifications from UML diagrams

When you create a synchronous or asynchronous message, a behavior specification is created automatically. You can delete a behavior specification from the model without deleting the message. You can also create an asynchronous message without a behavior specification by selecting Asynchronous Signal Message (No BES) from the Palette.

Before you begin

You must have a sequence diagram open that contains a message

About this task

To delete a behavior execution specification from a message, right-click the behavior execution specification in the diagram; then click Delete from Model.

What to do next

The behavior execution specification is removed from the model but the message remains.

Note: To change the default preferences for behavior execution specifications: Click Window > Preferences > Modeling > UML Diagrams > Sequence and Communication and set the preferences and click OK.
