Adding call operations to activity diagrams

When you model the flow of objects in an activity diagram, you can add call operations, which are actions that invoke operations in a model. You can create a reference to a new operation or to an existing operation. The referenced operation defines a type of behavior, such as a transformation or query, and the target operation runs that object transformation or query.

Before you begin

An activity diagram must be open in the Modeling perspective.

Procedure

In the Palette, under Actions, expand Invocation Actions and click Call Operation.
Complete one of the following steps:
- To reference a new operation, click Create Operation. The activity owns the resulting operation.
- To reference an existing operation, click Select Existing Operation and, in the Select Element window, click an operation and click OK.
- To reference an operation that the model does not currently specify but that you can create later, click Create Unspecified.
  Tip: You can also create a call operation by clicking an operation in the Project Explorer view and dragging it to the diagram editor.
Type a name for the call operation.
