Disabling the usage metering service

By default, Decision Intelligence Client Managed Software is configured to report usage metrics to the IBM Usage Metering Service (UMS).

If you are using Decision Intelligence Client Managed Software with IBM Cloud Pak® for Business Automation entitlements, the UMS reporting to IBM Software Central is optional.

When you use IBM Decision Intelligence Client Managed Software entitlements, UMS is required.

IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation	Using UMS is optional. If UMS is disabled, license usage metering is performed through IBM License Service. If you decided not to send Decision Intelligence Client Managed Software usage metrics to UMS, you can disable this feature by using the `-x` option when you run the Decision Intelligence Client Managed Software install script. For more information, see Installing the Decision Intelligence Client Managed Software operator. Note: If you want to use Decision Intelligence Client Managed Software with IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation entitlements, you must do the following configurations: `pvu-vpc` mode: You must configure Decision Intelligence Client Managed Software to use the `pvu-vpc` mode. For more information about configuring this mode, check the spec.metering_mode parameter in Configuring Decision Intelligence Client Managed Software. Metering for execution Java™ API: If you want to use the execution Java API, you must enable metering to track usage. Follow the instructions in Metering and tracking usage for execution Java API.

IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation

Using UMS is optional. If UMS is disabled, license usage metering is performed through IBM License Service.

If you decided not to send Decision Intelligence Client Managed Software usage metrics to UMS, you can disable this feature by using the -x option when you run the Decision Intelligence Client Managed Software install script. If you want to use Decision Intelligence Client Managed Software with IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation entitlements, you must do the following configurations:

pvu-vpc mode: You must configure Decision Intelligence Client Managed Software to use the pvu-vpc mode. For more information about configuring this mode, check the spec.metering_mode parameter in Configuring Decision Intelligence Client Managed Software.
Metering for execution Java™ API: If you want to use the execution Java API, you must enable metering to track usage. Follow the instructions in Metering and tracking usage for execution Java API.
