A08C - A drive was replaced with an incorrect drive generation

This is caused by replacing a tape drive with a drive type with an incorrect drive generation. This fix procedure describes how to diagnose and fix the problem.

Fix procedure

  1. Remove the incompatible drive and install a compatible one. See servicing the drive procedures.
  2. If the drive is a FRU replacement, run the Complete Service option from the Drives page in the management GUI.
  3. If the problem persists, Contact IBM support.

Damaged Components
During the procedure, if any part is found physically damaged, replace the applicable Customer Replacement Unit (CRU). See Customer service procedures.
