Editing test data source
You can edit a test data source when you want to change or add test data to test a different scenario.
- Created a test. See Tests: Overview and tasks.
- Created a test data source that contains the test data to use in test actions. See Creating a test data source.
- Opened the Test Factory perspective.
- Perform any of the following actions:

Perform the following steps to work with the test:

Right-click the test, and then click Open.
The test is displayed in the test editor view.

Click the Edit or Create Test Data icon
.
The Edit or Create Test Data dialog is displayed with the Edit existing test data set from action option as selected.

Click Finish.
The Open With dialog is displayed.
- Go to Step 4.

Right-click the test, and then click Open.

Perform the following actions to work with the data source file:

Right-click the data source file, and then click
Open.
The test data source view is displayed with the file name of the data source file in the File Name field.

Click Open.
The Open With dialog is displayed.
- Go to Step 4.

Right-click the data source file, and then click
Open.

Perform the following actions in the Open With
dialog:

Select the action for any of the following options:
Option Description Action Program List
Specifies compatible programs that you can use to open the type of file that contains the test data.
Perform the following steps:- Select the Program List
option, if a program is listed and you want to use
that program to open the data source.Note:This is the default option that is displayed as selected.
- Go to Step 4.b.
Launch Command
Specifies that you can use a compatible program from your computer to open the data source file, if a compatible program is not listed.
Perform the following steps:- Select the Launch Command option.
- Click Browse and go to the folder on your computer that contains the executable file of the program.
- Select the executable file of the program, and
then click Open.
The path to the executable program file is displayed in the Command field.
- Go to Step 4.b.
- Select the Program List
option, if a program is listed and you want to use
that program to open the data source.

Select the Always use this application to open these
files option, if you want your selection to open the
specific type of data source files to be saved.
When you select this option, you are not subsequently required to select a program to open such file types. The files are opened in the selected program automatically when you want to open the file for editing.

Select the action for any of the following options:

Click OK.
The data source file is opened in the program that you selected.
- Edit the test data.
- Save your changes, and then close the program.
You edited the test data source file by using a compatible program and saved your changes.
You can run the test to apply the changed test data.
If you want to change or remove the program that you associated to open specific file types of test data sources, you can use the Project > Preferences > Application option. See Applications preferences.
