Starting the launchpad
You can use the launchpad program that provides you with a single location to start the installation process.
- Installing from an electronic image on your local file system
- Installing from an electronic image on a shared drive
By starting the installation process from the launchpad program, IBM Installation Manager is automatically installed if it is not already on your computer. Furthermore, the installation process is already configured with the location of the repository that contains the installation package. If you install and start Installation Manager directly, then you must set repository preferences manually.
To install the product from
electronic disks downloaded from IBM Passport Advantage, open a command line and change to
the directory where you extracted the disk images, and then do one of the following
things:
- On Windows, run
DTUI_SETUP\launchpad.exe. - On Linux, go to the
DTUI_SETUPdirectory and type./launchpad.shto start the launchpad.Note:If you have trouble opening the launchpad in a Linux or Mac operating system, see Unable to open the launchpad in a Linux or Mac operating system.
