Creating deployment plans

A deployment plan can be created by customizing an existing plan or starting with a blank plan.

If you want to add notification-type tasks to a deployment plan, you must turn on the notification task feature. For information turning on notification-type tasks, see Specifying system-wide server settings.

A generic plan is provided with the product for you to customize. You can create deployment plans by copying existing plans, or by importing plans from CSV files. You can also start with a blank plan.
  1. From the IBM UrbanCode Release dashboard, click Releases & Deployments, and then click Deployment Plans.
  2. In the Deployment Plans page, click Create/Import Plan.

  3. In the Create New Deployment Plan dialog box, type a name for the plan in the Name field.
  4. In the For Release list, select the release for the plan.
    The plan becomes available for deployments that are created for the selected release.
  5. Specify the plan's source:
    • To copy the plan from an existing plan, select the release-deployment plan combination from in the Copy from list. The new plan inherits the segments and tasks from the selected plan. If no plan is selected, an empty plan without segments and tasks is created. Click From current release team only to filter the list of plans to select from.

      To include any attachments associated with selected plan, click Copy Attachments.

    • To create a plan from a CSV file, click Import from CSV, and click Browse, and then select the file. For information about CSV files and the structure of deployment plans, see CSV file format for deployment plan.
  6. Click Save.
After a deployment plan is associated with a release, you can customize its segments and tasks, and use it in deployments for the associated release.
