Viewing agent workspace data

Use the view workspace feature to view the contents of an agent's workspace related to a job for a build. The workspace viewer displays real-time content of an agent directory structure and files. You can expand directory structures and view individual file contents. There is no need to use another tool such as Remote Connect to view files on the agent.

The agent workspace viewer requires a plug-in that is included with the product. If you remove this plug-in the function becomes unavailable.

You can use the view agent workspace to troubleshoot issues and to verify that expected files were created. Log files that the agent creates might contain data that is not passed to the Build logs. This information provides additional details that are related to a failure and the build process. Output from the intermediate working files that the build job uses temporarily can be viewed on the agent. You can verify whether the files were created or corrupted while you debug issues.

It is important to understand that the viewer shows real-time data. If the workspace was cleaned as part of the build process or reused, the data that is viewed is not the job run data. If the directory is empty when you request to view it, it is empty or the agent is not online.

Access to the view workspace feature is available on several user interface pages that contain job information that is related to a build, such as the main page of a build or Job Execution page for a specific job.
