Configuring floating token licensing

When you want to improve license utilization and align with IBM’s token based licensing, configure DevOps Loop to use floating token licensing.

Ensure that you have the following:
  • Cluster administrator privileges to run Helm and Kubernetes commands.
  • Access to a configured IBM Common License Key Server that supports floating token licensing.
  1. Request license keys corresponding to the required DevOps Loop tier in IBM Common License Key Server:
    • DevOpsNexusEssentialsFL
    • DevOpsNexusStandardFL
    • DevOpsNexusPremiumFL
Note: Currently, only the premium tier is supported.
  2. Set LICENSE_SERVER=<IBM Common License Key Server URL> in the installation script before installing or upgrading DevOps Loop.
  3. Verify floating token licensing by logging in as a test user, then logging out and waiting 8 minutes for the license to return.
Note: When you log in 34 tokens are consumed. Tokens are released when a session expires or when a browser is closed. If licenses are depleted, you may encounter an error page indicating insufficient licenses.
You have successfully configured DevOps Loop to use floating token licensing with IBM Common License Key Server.
