Enabling sequence number handling

Enable sequence number handling to maintain sequence numbers for files that have valid standard sequence numbers on all lines.

Procedure

To enable sequence number handling:

  1. In the Preferences window, expand LPEX Editor > z Systems LPEX Editor and then click Sequence Numbers.
  2. Click the Enable sequence number handling check box.

Results

After you enable this option, the LPEX editor determines whether a file contains valid sequence numbers when the file is opened. If it does, the editor displays the sequence numbers in the prefix area instead of in the editable area of the edit window. Sequence numbers are added for new lines and resequenced when necessary.

In addition, the number command, which operates similarly to that of the ISPF editor, is available in the LPEX command line.
