Downloading a configuration from a push-to-client server

You can download a software analysis configuration or baseline analysis configuration from a push-to-client server to a client workstation.

Before you begin

Before you complete this procedure, your systems administrator must complete the following steps:
  • Configure a z/OS® system as the push-to-client primary system. For instructions, see Distributing updates by using push-to-client. There can also be nonprimary push-to-client systems that shadow the primary system.
  • Configure the primary system to recognize the client workstation as a valid push-to-client client.

For more information, see Updating workspace configurations and preferences.

About this task

When the client workstation connects to a push-to-client server, the push-to-client components determine whether the client workstation has the latest versions of the available software analysis configurations and baseline analysis configurations. If not, then the Updates Available window opens on the client. The Updates Available window displays a message that notifies the client user that new or updated configurations are available. For more information, see Updating workspace configurations and preferences. Depending on the push-to-client server configuration, the updates can be either required or optional.

Procedure

To download a software analysis configuration:

  • If updates are required, click OK.
  • If updates are optional, then select from among the available updates and click OK.

Results

The selected updates are downloaded to the client workstation:
  • If the operation is successful, then a confirmation message is displayed.
  • If the operation fails, then an error message is displayed.
