Submitting a JCL procedure from the editor

You can submit pregenerated JCL or you can use an existing JCL procedure that is available for you to edit and submit.

Before you begin

You must be connected to a remote system and successfully locate the JCL procedure you want to submit.

Procedure

  1. Open the JCL procedure.
    The procedure is opened in the editor.
  2. Make any necessary changes.
    For example, you might want to change the name of the load library to be allocated.
  3. Save your changes.
  4. Do one of the following steps:
    1. Enter a submit command from the editor to submit the job to the remote system.
    2. Right-click the JCL procedure in the Remote Systems view or z/OS Projects view and select Submit from the menu.
    A job submission confirmation window opens.
  5. Optional: To locate the job ID in the Remote Systems view, click Locate Job.
    The job ID is highlighted in the Retrieved Jobs filter of the JES subsystem.
  6. Optional: To be notified when the job completes, click Notify.
    A JES job notify background job is created and displayed in the lower right corner of the workbench status bar as follows:

    You can click the progress bar to open the job in the progress view. When the job completes a message is displayed in the lower left corner of the workbench status bar as follows:

    The message is also written to the Remote Console.
