Working with parameters

Parameters can be created, edited, copied and deleted from the Edit Instruction dialogs or the Create Instruction wizards.

Procedure

To manage an instruction's parameters, complete the following steps:

  1. Do one of the following actions:
    • In the HLASM tab of the Editor Options preference page, type the name of your user macro file in the User Macro File field.
    • In the HLASM Parser preference page , type the name of your user macro file in the User Macro File field.
  2. Click Manage next to the User Macro File field.
    The Manage Macro Files dialog appears and, if specified, it will load the macro file from the User Macro File field.
  3. Select one of the following tabs:
    • Macro Instructions
    • Assembler Instructions
    • Machine Instructions
  4. Do one of the following actions:
    • Click New, specify the instruction name, and click on the Next button to go to the Parameters page
    • Click Edit to edit an existing instruction.
    • Click Copy to copy an existing instruction.
  5. Optional. Use the New button to create new parameters.
  6. Optional. To filter the list of parameters:
    1. Specify text in the entry field above the parameter table.
      The table will only display entries that match the text.
    2. Optional. Click on the eraser icon to remove the filter text. All of the entries will be displayed.
  7. Optional. Edit existing parameters:
    1. Select a parameter from the parameter table.
    2. Click Edit to edit the parameter.
      The Edit Parameter dialog appears.
    3. Make necessary changes to the parameter.
    4. Click OK to save your changes.
    The parameter is modified.
  8. Optional. To copy an existing parameter:
    1. Select a parameter from the parameter table.
    2. Click Copy to copy the parameter.
      The Edit Parameter dialog appears.
    3. Optional. Make necessary changes to the parameter.
    4. Click OK to create a copy of the parameter.
    A copy of the parameter is created.
  9. Optional. To delete an existing parameter:
    1. Select one or more parameters to delete in the parameter table.
    2. Click Delete to delete the parameters.
      The parameters will be removed from the table.
    Note: You can also create, copy, edit and delete parameters by right-clicking in the parameter table.
