Opening new views

When you open the CICS Explorer® for the first time, the default workbench perspective is displayed containing the default view set. You can add other views to the workbench to display additional information about your CICSplex.

Before you begin

The views are grouped in sets:
  • General views
  • CICS® SM Definitions views
  • CICS SM Operations views
  • CICS SM Other
  • CICS System Definitions
  • CICS System Operations
  • Help views
  • z/OS® views

To open a new view, click Operations, Definitions or Help on the workbench menu bar, and select a view from the list shown.

For example, to open the File Definitions view, click Definitions > File Definitions and the view is displayed.

Alternatively, you can open a new view from the Show View window:

Procedure

  1. Click Window. The window menu is displayed.
  2. Position your cursor over Show View. A sub menu is displayed.

  3. Click Other ... and the Show View window is displayed showing the sets of views available.
  4. Perform one of the following actions:
    • Click the plus sign next to the view set to expand it and show the views in that set, then click the view you want to add to the workbench, and click OK. Some of the view names are in a lighter font than others, indicating that the view already exists on the workbench.
    • Type the name of the view you want to add in the filter text field in the Show View window. As you type each letter, the views matching your input are displayed. Select the view you want to add to the workbench, and click OK.

Results

The Show View window closes, and the selected view is opened in the workbench.
