Viewing and comparing search history

CICS Explorer® keeps a record of your previous search history. You can open each history record to see the results in the search view, or you can open the results in a new view to compare one or more results.

About this task

This procedure describes how to view the previous search history, increase the number of saved result sets, and compare result sets.

Procedure

  1. If the Search view is not already open, click Window > Show View > Other from the main menu bar, and in the text field type Search and click OK. The Search view opens.
  2. Click the Show Previous Searches icon The Show Previous Searches icon.

You can now perform one of the following actions:
  • To display the search result in the Search view, click a search result and click Open. The result is displayed in the existing Search view.
  • To display the search result in a new Search view, click a search result and click Open in New. The result is displayed in a new Search view. Using drag-and-drop you can move the search views so you can see both views, and compare the contents.
    Note: If you want to have more than two search views open at any one time you must use the Pin icon The Pin icon to pin the open search views. Pinning the search view means that subsequent searches will show their results in another search view, and that the pinned view remains unchanged.
  • To change the number of search results that are saved, click Configure. In the History Size dialog A screen capture of the History Size dialog. type the number to save and click OK.
