You can have more than one instance of CICS® Explorer running at the same time. Each
instance must have its own workspace.
Before you begin
You can choose the name, and where to save the workspace, by
using the Switch Workspace window. The default
workspace name is .cicsexplorer, and the default
location depends on the operating system you are using. The path of
the current workspace is shown in the CICS Explorer® title bar.
You
can choose to save the workspace in any folder you like. The following
example assumes you use the name .cicsexplorer_production,
and save the workspace in the same directory as the current workspace.
Procedure
- Start a new instance of CICS Explorer in the same way you started
the current instance. For example, double-click the file cicsexplorer.exe (cicsexplorer on Linux). CICS Explorer starts with
the default workspace.
- Click File > Switch Workspace > Other to
show the Workspace Launcher window. In the Workspace field,
change the path to the name and location for the new workspace. For example C:\Documents
and Settings\username\.cicsexplorer_production.
- Optional: If you want to copy the workbench
layout, that is the position and layout of the views in the perspectives,
select the Workbench Layout check box in the
Copy Settings list.
- Click OK.
Results
A new instance of CICS
Explorer starts. If the workspace called
.cicsexplorer_production exists, CICS Explorer uses that one. If
the workspace does not exist, CICS
Explorer creates it.
